KAAMULAN 2015: COLORS, COSTUMES AND DANCES



This 2015, the annual gathering "amul-amul" of the 7 hill tribes of Bukidnon called Kaamulan Festival happens on the month of October along with Indigenous People's Month celebration. The seven tribes include Bukidnon, Higaonon, Manobo, Matigsalug, Talaanding, Tiguahanon and Umayamnon.  

Kaamulan 2015 Streetdancing Competition is another proof that the festival's highlight is getting better every year. Colors and costumes are getting more colorful and vibrant. The streetdancing was accompanied by spectacular float parade. Ground cultural presentation followed at capitol grounds. This year, 8 towns representing 5 tribes vied championship of the three categories--- Best Float, Best in Streetdancing and Best in Ground Cutural Presentation. Malitbog, Kitaotao and Maramag dominate this year's festival.

KI BATHALA GARDENS


Name: Ki Bathala GARDENS

Location: Sitio Balaon, San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon

Features: Ki Bathala Gardens is a jungle resort in Sitio Balaon, San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon--- 30 km from CDO. The 12-hectare farm (and increasing) is owned by a Swiss-Filipino family who practices PERMACULTURE. Equipped with indigenous lodging amenities, the chirps of different bird species add the site a more natural feel. Its 16-year old stone house, along with other structures, walls and the stairways, was built by a skilled Igorot stonebuilder. Coconut and banana stand anywhere. Therapeutic herbs, bamboo and ginger of different species are found in the farm. The natural and manmade forests make the springs consistently streaming, supplying water to rice paddies and fish ponds. The farm is also adjacent to the mighty Kalawaig River, perfect for a cool dip.
It hosts the annual MUSIKALAWAIG LUNA FESTIVAL where different international artists gather together and showcase their crafts in music.

LAKE APO

 

Name: Lake Apo

Location: Sitio Lawa, Guinuyoran, Valencia City

Features: Lake Apo in Sitio Lawa, Guinuyoran, Valencia City is a crater lake measuring 24 hectares with maximum depth of 26 meters. It is 11 km away from the Poblacion. Situated in 640 meters elevation, it is one of the cleanest lake in Region 10. 

The serene lake resort is operated by a private businessman accountable of its good maintenance. Visitors Lodge can accommodate 40 persons. Its driftwood furniture and furnishings give the venue a country feel. Its green lawn makes a very romantic scenery. The overflowing crystal clear pool gives a soothing cool dip.  

Picknicking on a floating cottage is one of the main activities in the lake. Kayaking and jetskiing can also be experienced with proper coordination.

TURMERIC DRINK

BLUEWATER CAVE

FEATURES: Bluewater Cave or simply Bluewaters is a short hike from the national highway of San Jose, Quezon, Bukidnon. The cave is easily accessible right after the bridge linking Quezon and Camp 1, Maramag. Getting to the site requires balancing at the steep trail on a white rock cliff. Sharp descent and slippery rocks need to be hurdled going down the exit of the cave. Cool blue waters spring out the cave and meet the troubled rapids of Pulangui River. A pool at the exit of the cave is perfect for a cool dip.

KAAMULAN 2015 STREETDANCING COMPETITION

The highlight of Kaamulan Festival 2015 celebration, the street dancing competition is scheduled on October 24, 2015. Eight towns will compete for the Best Float, Best in Ethnic Street Dancing and Best in Ethnic Ground Presentation. Best Flute and Best in Street Dancing will be judged in Fortich Street, Malaybalay City while Ground Presentation will take place at Capitol Ground.
